Planning Moves Ahead

The Merced 2020 Project literally dominates our view at UC Merced. But the Division of Finance and Administration’s mission to serve the university's financial and operational needs means we must look beyond the campus expansion. To that end, the Division has developed a strategic plan that sets priorities for years to come.

Part of the strategic plan zeroes in on modernizing the university's systems and processes, while never losing sight of the human element. "Our goals and initiatives also must recognize the importance of people – especially our exceptional staff and talented students – in order for our campus to achieve its overall goals," said Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer Michael Riley.

Financial System

An end-to-end revamping of UC Merced's financial system, replacing the current setup with a system based on Oracle technology. It is scheduled to go live in July 2020.

Annual Academic Budget

Installing an annual academic budget that will be ready a year ahead of time, allowing for decisions on class scheduling and instructor commitments. The Division is working on the budget for the 2020-21 academic year.

Recruitment Tracking

Employing a system, based on PeopleSoft technology, to track the recruitment of student and staff employees. The system, which streamlines job postings and helps manage and screen applicants, is scheduled to go live by February 2020.
