Department of Auxiliary Enterprises and Fiscal Innovation

As part of their determination to put student success first, UC Merced leaders have reorganized and streamlined its housing, dining and other auxiliary services.

The restructuring builds on a partnership between the Division of Student Affairs and the Department of Auxiliary Enterprises and Fiscal Innovation (AFI), which is housed in the Division of Finance and Administration.

AFI includes Dining Services, the Campus Store, Housing Operations, the Conference Center, Transportation and Parking, and the Early Childhood Education Center, which recently celebrated 10 years of existence.

The goal of the restructuring is to support student life and residence education, while boosting customer satisfaction and loyalty. The directors of Housing, Dining, the Campus Store and the Conference Center now will report to Alan Coker, associate vice chancellor for AFI.

Michael Riley, interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer, said staff will reach out to students directly and through surveys to find out what’s working and what isn’t.

“We need to make sure our operations are financially sustainable, while still being able to address things like food insecurity, staff development and student success,” Riley said.
