Greetings from the Dean of Students Office. My name is Heather French and I serve as the Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students. It has been my life’s calling to work with college students and I am so honored to be here at UC Merced and to have the opportunity to work with our outstanding scholars to achieve their goals.

You may be wondering, what does the Dean of Students do? The Dean of Students Office is here to provide support, advocacy, and resources to students. We meet with students all of the time for any number of reasons, ranging from academic, financial, personal, and beyond. If you or someone you know is experiencing a challenge that you are not sure how to navigate, or if you need some help and are not sure where to turn, the Dean of Students Office is a good place to start.
