A NEW ERA FOR FINANCIAL SYSTEMS

On Jan. 4, UC Merced experienced a landmark transformation – cutting over from UCLA financial systems to our own. Systems that govern financial tracking and reporting; travel and reimbursement; budgeting; research effort reporting; taxes; and timekeeping – along with a new Chart of Accounts – were implemented, allowing UC Merced to stand on its own.

More than 135 employees, most of them on the Alpha Financials project, worked tirelessly over nearly two years to make this happen. Teams worked across silos and locations, powered through a global pandemic, and partnered in new ways to leave a legacy we can all be proud of.

To assist campus employees become familiarized with the new financial systems, the following resources are available:

The Go-Live Toolkit is a one-stop repository for resources about how to use the Oracle-based systems. It is highly recommended that you bookmark the Toolkit page on your browser and visit it frequently.

The DFA Service Catalog streamlines how you post a ServiceNow request or incident, connecting you to specialists with expertise ranging from accounts payable to travel.

Open office hours are available for users to ask non-urgent questions and provide feedback about system processes and navigation. For process-specific questions, please reach out to the relevant contact.

Concur is the new system for travel and non-travel reimbursement. It modernizes the process and is incredibly mobile friendly. Go here for assistance and training resources.

Oh, the Many Ways You Can ConnecT

Even as the pandemic fundamentally affects our personal and professional lives, the university continues work to modernize and streamline core campus services. One such service is UC Merced Connect, your new digital gateway to living and working at the university.

Whether you use the mobile app or desktop version, Connect is a starting point for tasks faculty and staff perform every day.

For example, from Connect’s personalized My Merced page, you can check Outlook email, see when your next paycheck drops (and look at last month’s), and get the email and phone number of the colleague you want to contact today. You also can enter and approve timesheets, access the new Oracle Financials platform, or jump quickly into the UC Learning Center.

And that’s just the start. With Connect on your laptop or phone screen, you’re a tap or two away from the Daily Health Check, your Zoom meeting schedule, and a calendar of events for faculty and staff. Many of these destinations can be added to your Connect favorites, making navigation even faster. And because Connect is optimized for mobile use, you can switch smoothly from desktop to phone, and vice versa.

Download UC Merced Connect from the App Store and Google Play or access it on the desktop at connect.ucmerced.edu. Let it become a valuable partner in your UC Merced experience.
