deadline to apply for housing extended
You should have received emails from us regarding the deadline to apply for housing. In case you didn’t, the deadline to apply for housing has been extended to June 15 for first year students and July 5 for transfer students.
UC Merced requires ALL incoming first year students to live on campus for two academic years, unless they qualify for a residency exemption waiver. You can find a complete list of residency exemptions here.
The housing selection process
In the coming weeks, there will be steps you need to take in the housing selection process. For more information and deadlines, visit housing.ucmerced.edu/apply.
Step 1: Apply for housing
Submit your housing preference form (first year students) or housing application (transfer students) at housing.ucmerced.edu/apply. The deadline is June 15 for first year students and July 5 for transfer students.
Step 2: Review housing offer and sign contract
Once you receive your housing offer, you will need to sign the housing contract. This will secure your place in housing for the coming term. You will not receive your official assignment until your contract is signed. There is no reservation fee or deposit due at the time you sign your contract.
Step 3: Create a roommate group
Roommate groups are students who agree to live together. These groups will be used for making room assignments.
Step 4: Select your room (first year students)
You can select your preferred room space. You must have a signed housing contract in order to select a room for you and your roommate group. If you do not select a room, one will be assigned based on the preferences of you and your roommates.
