Fall 2020:
Free Virtual Offerings
- Though facilities are closed, students can still access home video workouts and virtual classes on our Fitness page.
Athletics:
- The California Pacific Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) announced in July that the fall sport seasons in cross country, soccer and women’s volleyball will be moved to the Spring of 2021. Students should be ready to engage with UC Merced Athletics during the spring semester with all eight sports teams competing for conference and national championships. Stay abreast of more information and other ways to engage with UC Merced Athletics throughout the fall semester by following us on social media @ucmercedbobcats on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Well-Equipped Facilities
Both the Gallo Recreation & Wellness Center and Student Activities & Athletics Center (SAAC) are open more than 110 hours each week. Each facility has a wide variety of cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers and stationary bikes, and has a wide range of strength-training equipment including a selectorized circuit and squat racks with free weights.
Fitness Programs
If you need some motivation to get moving, you can request a personal trainer for a fee. Or, you can have access to all of the fitness classes we offer, at many skill levels for a nominal fee. A few popular classes: • Dance • Cardio Kickboxing • Yoga • Cycling • Core • Circuit training
High-Intensity Workout Class
F45 training merges three separate leading-edge fitness training styles into one compelling group training experience. More than 40 classes of F45 offered each week, so you’ll be sure to find a class time that fits your schedule. A semester pass for F45 is available at a nominal fee.
Sports Clubs
The Sport Club Program promotes student participation at the regional and national level that is managed and run by UC Merced students. Past sport clubs have included: • Archery • Cycling • Baseball • Golf • Bobcat Dance Team • Softball • Bobcat Martial Arts Team • Water Polo • Bobcat Strength • Tennis • Cheer • Lacrosse
Intramural Sports
Exercise, relieve stress and play a sport you love. If you’re a first-timer, intramural sports are a great way to get involved. There are a lot of sports at all skill levels to choose from for a nominal fee. Signup for the most current and updated intramural offerings. Past intramural sports have included: • 3-on-3 basketball • Tennis • Flag football • Volleyball • Futsal
Outdoor Experience Program
The Outdoor Experience Program is the hub of all things outdoors at UC Merced. It’s located in the UC Merced Outdoor Center in the SAAC. Programs include Outdoor Adventure trips, Open Wrench Bicycle repair sessions, and outdoor equipment and kayak rentals. Past trips have included hikes in Yosemite and Sequoias National Parks along with visits to Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
